About Acupuncture

Traditional Chinese Medicine has been in use for over 2,000 years. It works on the bodies energy or electrical system, the same system that sends communication from the brain to the rest of the body. For a simple understanding of this electrical system, imagine a person whose heart has stopped beating. In the emergency room, a doctor puts an electrical paddle on the chest, sending an electrical current to shock the heart.
An acupuncturist has several years of clinical training and is able to assess what is wrong with this electrical system based upon a thorough examination, which usually involves asking the "Ten Questions" as well as observing the general state and appearance of the patient. We then make a diagnosis and develop a treatment plan based upon this diagnosis. Very fine surgical grade, disposable stainless steel needles are inserted very painlessly into acupuncture points. My acupuncture technique is so painless, that some of my best patients are children!
Imagine this, you are standing next to an electrical fence. You reach a metal pole out to the fence. The pole conducts the electricity. The acupuncture needle acts as
a tiny metal pole reaching in to our bodies electrical system.
